G'day,
Would any kind soul out there be able to recommend manufacturer's who make
decent 6/10mm WWI tanks and knights in armour on foot (preferably
individually based rather than in rows of 6 or whatever)?
Likewise can anyone recommend a supplier of nice looking 25mm knights in
armour on foot.
Inspired by Dr Who (as I so often am) I've been mulling over a force (under
the control of TOLEMAC industries founded by Arthur King) who's PA look like
knights in armour and who's vehicles resemble WWI tanks (in appearance not
necessarily function).
Thanks
Pendragon are very good for 10mmof all kinds, SF, Fantasy, Historical. I
have some great Starship Troopers and Amazons from them. John

Heroics and Ros also make medievals (War of the Roses, Crusades), which are
cast individually but on strips, if you see what I mean. IIRC they've recently
been bought by Navwar.

Scotia also make WWI vehicles, which are liable to be considerably more
detailed than Irregular's.

My favourite 25mm medievals are the ones by Essex Miniatures. I accumulated a
fair number some years ago when my club ran a medieval campaign. They have the
advantage of open hands and separate weapons, so converting them to carry
Gauss guns (or whatever) would be easy.

There's always the option of old-style Epic Land Raiders, which are
about as SF-WWI as you could get !

Depending on your (and Dr.Who's) idea of knights, you may want to look out for
knights from different periods. The most popular image is knights in full
plate armour, which would be 100 Years's war period or
later. Knights in chainmail armour are earlier - Crusades or 13th
century.

Isn't games workshops new fantasy thing 10mm? Bretonian foot knights would
sort of fit the bill, if they've done the bretonians yet. They might even do
them in plastic for the cheaposity.

Hmm.

Yah, but they are metal and in strips.

Alternative Armies "Attrition" range have Sci-Fi figures with a knightly
appearance. They come in 28 and 15's and the faction to look for are
"Crusaders". Mind you there is no mistaking them for actual nights, just guys
in knightly looking armor with sci fi guns.
Old Glory do an OK range of foot knights in 28mm. Cheap in the US but if they
are expensive down under look elsewhere.

If my memory serves me correctly, Scotia did produce a fairly large selection
of 6mm WW1 vehicles. They included the British Whippets, Mk II male and
female, Mk. IV male and female, Mk V male and female, Mk V* male and female,
Mk V** male and female, Mk VIII, Mk IX APC, Mk B, and Rolls Royce AC; the
French Char St.Chammond Char 2c (actually a WW2 vehicle), the
Schneider and a batch of FT-17s; and the German A7V, A7Vu, Lk. II lt
tank and the Ehrhadt 17 AC. I don't know who stocks them Down Under, but I
believe that Scotia still has a website. Hope this helps.

It's at http://website.lineone.net/~grendel.co/index.html
Does Irregular have a US distributer... Their stuff looked cool, but shipping
from UK seems to be very pricey...

For WWI tanks, you could use the GW space marine Landraiders. There should be
a lot of the old plastic ones out there for sale. (second
hand) They have that weird low-tech look you're probably looking for.
As to 25 mm knights, I'd recommend Old Glory. They have some of the
cheapest (but still very good) ancient/medieval figures around. They've
got bags of 30 foot for about $25 US.
Old Glory's url is: www.oldgloryminiatures.com
BTW, the Dr.Who episode in question wouldn't be the one with the Arthurian
knights from another dimension would it? With the newest Doctor? (I don't
count the American Fox show as legitimate Dr.Who
)

Yep that's the one, if I remember correctly it was called Battlefield.
As to Karl's question plate armour is what I was thinking though the comment
about their already being a line of knights with sci-fi guns sounded
intriguing too.
Thanks for all your help!!
This is so... different that I love the concept.
Of course you could have gone for Class 1 FPG based recon 'powered horses' you
know...

Hey Beth,
Here is a link to Brigade Games listing of Alternative Armies Attrition
Crusaders:

Be forwarned that his links are a bit confused and this page takes a long time
to load.
Now if one painted them a little differently... bare metal instead of colors.
Long thought of working out some sort of BATTLEFIELD game myself.

Neither do the fans.
Do harlequin still do the figures? I could find the box sets on their website
but not the blister packs.
> Do harlequin still do the figures? I could find the box sets on their
Individual figures are not available, although I suppose one could try
asking nicely via e-mail.
The box sets remain and the "figure sets" are available. Look under "Rangers"
on the left once you enter the Dr Who catalogue.
The figure sets group 5 or so figures together. They are generally from the
same Doctor incarnation but otherwise unrelated.
In the official Dr Who fan's mind the eighth Doctor is legit (albeit very
disaapointing) but Blackadder - oh no, oh no,no, no.
