G'day,

Caught a bit of a doco on river boat action in Vietnam today. Inspired many
DS/SG thoughts and I was wondering if anyone had ever given it a go?

Cheers

I bought the boats in 6mm, wrote up DSII stats for
them, and got about 1/2 done with writing a scenario
and acquiring the troops for the scenario when I moved to Germany. Havn't gone
back and done anything with it since then. The DSII rules seem pretty
straightforward. Also, the last GZG ECC featured a Vietnam scenario that from
the photos appears to have included some very nice riverine monitors.

I believe that Stuart Murray did a Vietnam based game for GZGECC, "Charlie
Don't Surf", that used riverboats. Anyone in that game care to comment?

I wasn't in that game, but I recently read an article about modern Finnish
coastal defences. They have a lot of interesting stuff deployed
or on order. Stealthy watercraft, missile-armed hovercraft, coastal
batteries (guns and missiles, mobile or in bunkers), coastal ranger infantry,
mines (water and land), a sophisticated networked sensor system (remember, the
Finns brought you Nokia phones)... Thousands of islands, mostly wooded.

Lots of ideas to make a game that's fun for the invaders ;-)

Greetings
