Anyone running a DSII or a SGII game at Gen Con? I've been perusing the events
they're selling tickets for at the WotC store, but I haven't run across
anything except for the annual Full Thrust tournament (which BTW
we're "encouraging" Hobie to play in). Being a tread-head I'd prefer
DSII, but I'm more than willing to get squad after squad massacred in bloody
fashion in SGII.

Thanks for any info.

:-) Hobie's luck has to change in the FT Tourney, some year.

> Being a tread-head I'd prefer DSII,

Mike Miserendino is running a Bolo DSII game. I is listed under Miniatures
games, I think towards the end of the list and I can't remember what it is
called.

I don't know of any SGII games but there are also the FT Demo games listed and
someone is running some FT games in what sounds like the Battletech universe.

My Sci-Fi Crossover game (running twice this year, Friday and Noon and
5pm)
did not make it to the Pre-Reg guide but it is in and will be in the
on-site
guide.

While reading through DSII I keep wondering if there is an anotated AAR which
discusses the rules as well as showing the flow of the game on a turn by turn
basis. I've read similiar things for other mini games and they really do help
one learn the system.

As should all who intend to participate. He's a history of falling to the
ultimate winner within the first two rounds.

Do you need any GZG figs, either DSII or SGII, to take gaming? I've some to
offer on long-term loan; you know all you need to do is paint 'em up.

I was thinking of bringing a bunch of 15mm Stargrunt figures to set up a
game or two during the convention -- nothing official, but I'll put
together a couple of scenarios and write up the player briefings if anyone
would like to play.

I'd love to see a DS2 game. Looks like I going to have to run one to play in
one locally...

Never been to Gen Con, maybe in a year or two now that the debt burden has
been demolished but I'll need something for the wife and kids to do (This
would entail vacation time and that has been traditionally family time from
day 1.) [Cue in the Song "Tradition" from Fiddler on the Roof as an exit.]

There seems to be a distinct reduction in events across the board this year.
Last year was the first where every game I ran had multiple people showing up
with generics! They had a 25% increase in attendance, but they've been slowly
losing judges. There are a few reasons for this. Miniatures, particularly
historicals, have been dying at GenCon. I think the '98 and '99 locations for
miniatures hurt them, even though last year the miniatures events were in a
good location. But the problem is endemic to the entire con, because my RPG
friends had a nasty time trying to get tickets for events last year. They
noted a real decline in the number of Call of Cthulhu events this year, for
one thing.

I did the only SG2 games last year, and ran about half of them the year
before. Unfortunately, I'm not going this year. Well... 90% sure. A friend
suddenly had room freed up in his car and has a room with no room mates, so
I'm a little tempted, but it's incredibly unlikely.
