With my upcoming deployment overseas I'd love to keep playing some GZG games,
but I don't look forward to throwing a lot of lead in my duffel bag. Does
anyone know where I can get some decent cardboard counters for Dirtside?

Thanks,

How about some second hand Squad Leader counters?
Maps can be SL/ASL/battletech "rollable" [not TM] paper ones.

You provide the dice.

Bon chance

I've always liked the fold up boxes from FASAs 1st. edition Centurion.

Talk to you later,

And the maps would work well for terrain, if you can ignore the hexes.
Also, the second edition had those rather nice if brittle-weaponed
plastic tanks.

If you don't have a copy, and you might have time before you deploy, you could
give me your address; I've an extra copy.

Otherwise, I'm trying to think of other games that have top images of tanks
(always looks more generic to moi). I believe Avalon Hill's MBT might fit the
bill.

Be careful out there; you're already making us proud.

Of course if someone wanted to take top pictures of there GZG stuff with a
digital camera I could print them on cardstock and mail them to you. It's not
punched cardboard but it would work.

It's amazing what you can do with an inkjet printer.

Talk about feeding me a line:)

I've just added a few more pictures to my Dirtside gallery:)

Honestly that was not a set up. Right Roger;)

Want, want, want!:)

Try spraying down the line of miniatures.
So that you do a sort of fly-by with the spray can.

That way you won't be applying too much paint in one go.
You can always fly-by again if it isn't bold enough on the miniature.

The easiest way to achieve this would be a flatbed scanner I would think
- especially if you want a fairly high-res image. Less chance of lens
distortions as well (for those with a computer graphics background, you should
get a parallel projected image from a scanner rather than the perspective
projection given by a camera).

Blu-tack the vehicles to a sheet of card / plastic / whatever (black
might be best) and suspend it over the glass so that the models just
touch the surface. For a small model like a 1/300th tank, most scanners
should have sufficient depth-of-field to avoid going out of focus.

Just an idea :-)

May I suggest looking for Inkjet printer compatible sheet of punched business
cards? The cards come in a 2 x 5 pattern and rip apart nicely.

Thanks for all of the advice, guys. I'm going to go to Brookhurst later next
week and pick up a copy of MBT (like I needed an excuse to go to Brookhurst).
I'm also going to look around for some ASL boards.

I'll also give scanning some of my lead a try. If it looks good I'll post pics
up on my site.

And if anyone else on the list wants to get in on the first Ground Zero Games
BALKANS Convention with me and LOS, drop me an email...

Thanks,
