I was just searching the web, and found this site with some old BT minis,
useful for mecha, tanks, and a dropship.

This is the-miniatures-company-formerly-known-as-Ral-Partha... or at
least the Ironwind folks bought the old RP BT molds when RP got gutted by
Weiners of the Coast. Good bargains, actually.

In my continuing search for non-human civilians, I've thought of
converting fantasy figures to SF aliens - some of these ones might work.

I saw the drop ship at Origins and GenCon, and was a bit underwhelmed.
However, some prep and a fine paint job could certainly turn that around.

I WAS impressed enough with the McKenna and Avalon to pick up one of each;
VACC-HEAD TO THE END!

The comment about the fantasy folk used for 'aliens' brough to mind the
Martians Bob Murch did for Space 1889. His Steppe folk were so obviously drawn
from his fantasy elves that, for the 15mm VSF I've in the works, I'll probably
use Battlesystem elves I've sitting on shelves forever.

The humorous reverse is when I was gathering cheap HeroClix Skrull to use
as aliens, everyone said 'orcs'. ;->=

Wasn't that WizKids that help lead to RP's demise and of course RPs on course
of action had to shoulder some of the blame too. I realize WotC was
responsible for cancelling the D&D line of miniatures, but that was only one
of the reasons they went under.

Is this the ~$100 dropship that WizKids was promoting for their clickyTech as
well?

Pics? There don't seem to be any on the Ironwind site yet!

> The comment about the fantasy folk used for 'aliens' brough to mind

I was thinking that these two looked convertible into SF aliens (civilian
or not...)

Only the shield looks difficult to get rid of, and they're certainly
different! I've got 25mm skirmish scenery with several bars & cantinas built
in, so I've got to start aquiring interesting looking clientle for these
wretched hives of scum and villany!

Ironwind is notoriously out of date. No suprise there really, considering
there's like 3 employees (or so I've heard).
For pics check out www.star-ranger.com and then surf over to the
Aerotech/Battlespace tab on the far right. Scroll down for some pics of
the McKenna, Congress, Avalon, and other minis released for this line.

No, there's a piccie on the Ironwind site under Foam and Resin Castings;
it's a bullet-shaped Leopard. The WizKid's is an Aurora.

I'll see what I can do, but refraining from expiration is
contra-indicated.
I be bad, I know.

No problem in archaic sci fi; shield guns are pretty common in literature.

Has anyone actually tried ordering through this page? I keep on getting an
error at the last stage. Bummer, I really want a Huitzilopochtli, a Mars
Assault vehicle,

The way I order mine is to email Robin Hamm robin@ironwindmetals.com with your
order. Then call her a few hours after you send your email so she has time to
get it. Then its just a matter of credit cards numbers a
nice chat with Robin and your done. I usally get my stuff with 3-4 days
and if your order is over $30,shipping is free. Gotta love it.

This can be extremely painful for someone in Oz. Sorry, Alan, I picked up mine
at GenCon; wish I'd known there were problems with their web site, or I'd have
asked. On the other hand, they are promising a site rehaul shortly.

I have some of the APC's, they actually work nicely in
shape/size as infantry assault landers or VERY large
Tranny VTOL's.
