Eldar Grav Bikes from Epic 40K are what I use I dont even bother modifying the
pointy heads most of the time I use them for my Striker games as well

Three issues all related to my being bored at the Game Parlor and clearing out
some oddball minis.

Dog Teams--scout, not anti-tank. Someone was working on rules for
these. I know they're not done yet or I'd ha' seen 'em on the list, but how
are they employed? One dog and one handler? Pairs of handlers
and dogs? I bought some dog minis and some SG mercenaries--a fellow
with boonie cap, and his rifle on a patrol sling is going to be my dog
handler.

As far as dog minis--Best one came out of a Mithral blister labelled
M348 Farmer Maggot & his Dogs. One dog sort of in a warning position, one
uselessly playful, and a hobbit. True 25s, so they look natural next to a
Stargrunt mini. Also got some Ral Partha Blink Dogs, which are nice Shepherd
types, but bigger. More lead in them than in the
handler. Might do for a bio-engineered type. Also picked up a pair of
Call of Cthulu Hounds of Tindalos which are much bigger and suitably
nasty looking for an alien-type critter. :) Also have some RP 'war
dogs' which is some sort of wolf-hound thing that's a bit big too, but
usable. As far as Wolves, Alternative Army's wolves are too chunky and
expensive, Ral Partha's are better and cheaper.

Cats--Picked up pack of TNE Aslan Mercenaries. Anyone know of a
company that makes bipedal felines with SF-type equipment, so I can
fill out a platoon or so's worth?

Grav Bikes--picked up a TNE Grav Bike, and it's really nice. But out
of print, no? Now, I know Eureka minis makes some OUDF Light Horse grav bikes.
Are these available in US? And if not is it possible to import them without
going broke paying shipping charges? And are there
any near-equivelants in 6mm?

All of these animal teams would come in handy for tracking scenarios. Also
if one ever decide to do the Star ship trooper route w/ 25mm troops
(book NOT movie), they can make good Celeb teams.

BTW while on the SST track, I was at Child world and saw in teh bargain bin
they had teh Golem SST packs fr like 2.95. While the troops (you get a Johnny
Rico and Zalndar fig with each, are of little use to me, you do get
a rather functional drop ship, of the Dirside/Epic scale) Good for a
platoon. Now the bugs are even better, You get a soldier and a plasma buf.
These make either good tyranid biotitans or decent alien bugs for 25mm SG.

If John Atkinson would like to contact me off the list I will gladly quote him
shipping charges, that by comparisson with Brookhurst Hobbies seem very
reasonable.

I believe KR will be releasing the jet bike very soon too, I sent him the
masters over two months ago.

Thank you,

Nic

Er, that's CALEB; the concept of celeb teams brings to mind a trooper handler
with a Media Personality on a long chain....... (now THERE'S and idea)

Just a quick mention, since I haven't plugged them for months, that Irregular
produce plenty of animal figures. I haven't a 25mm catalogue to hand, but I'd
be shocked if they didn't do dogs, wolves, buffalo, crocodiles and sheep.

Read a short story called "Exploration Team" by Murray Leinster that
featured gene-engineered Kodiak bears. Basically dog-like
personalities. Plus a trained bald Eagle named Semper Tyrannis.
Trained hawk-style so the main character could sic Semper Tyrannis.
(Bad pun--Sic Semper Tyrannis is the motto of the Commonwealth of
Virginia, and was shouted by JW Boothe after he offed Lincoln). Those would be
interesting miniatures.

Which one? I can think of about half a dozen people that match the

Many moons ago, a bloke called Eric Warrel ran a reptile park near Gosford,
just north of Sydney. We'd been in the country about three months, and went to
visit. Mr Warrel himself parked next to our car, and we had a good yarn. Then
he produced a 2 metre snake out of a bag, explaining how friendly they were,
did anyone want to have a cuddle? When he draped it over my Mother, she was
NOT amused. Of course I, being a 10 year old boy, got into the spirit of the
thing (I reasoned it would be Very Bad PR if it were poisonous, so that was
unlikely despite the bright patternings) and
let it twine around my arm, taste/smell me with its tongue etc. Turned
out it was a Diamond Python - can give you a nasty bite (like a rat),
but not poisonous and likes to snuggle up to things warm.

They also taste pretty good. Better than some of the crap in 30 year old SEATO
ratpaks anyway. Why do USAians refer to special force types as
"snake-eaters?"? Doesn't your military basic training involve basic
survival skills, such as how to bake up bark, grubs, roaches, snakes,

Steve Irwin, methinks. 'Today, we're going to catch a 4-meter croc with

I do know that Irregular do 15mm animals - two types of dogs, I think:
alsatian & something else (labrador type? Can't recall...)

Apparently they're very nice minis - they look it, in the catalog, but I
don't own any.

don't know about 25mm Irreg dogs - I actually doubt it, as Irreg's 25mm
line is very small, and I can't recall seeing any animals in it. Too bad the
catalogs at home and I'm not right now...

Irregular have a very large range of 25mm gear and it certainly does include
animals, ranging in size from the rabbit to the Giraffe with various other
beasties in between.

For those following the Gurkha thread they also make a yak. All available from
Eureka Miniatures of course:)

I stand (sit...) corrected - I only play 15mm & 6mm, so I didn't realize
that Irreg had a seperate 25mm catalog; there's a very few 25mm things in
the back of the 6-to-20mm catalog, so I thought that was it for Irreg's
25mms...

I just sent off an order to Irreg, including soem of their 15mm animals
-
I'll post a review when I get the stuff.
