GMS/L is size class 1 and GMS/H is size class 2.
So if GMS/H is mounted on a turrent, it will cost 6 capacity points.
IF GMS/H is fixed mount weapon, then it will cost 4 capacity points.
Check out page 9 under the heading 7) GUIDED MISSILE SYSTEMS (GMS): in
Dirtside II book.

This is what that rule implies, yes. However, if you look at the list of
system sizes (don't remember which side it is, but directly after the
example design of the size 4 hover tank) that list specifies the GSM/L
as
2 cap.points and the GSM/H as 4 cap.points. I think that this is an
oversight - ie, I agree with your interpretation - yet those who claim
that a GSM/H uses 4 cap.points no matter how it is mounted has rather
strong support in the rules too.

I think GMS is a fairly portable system. It does not requir much space.
After all GMS/L can be carried by infantry, much like today's weapon. So
I still think GMS/H should be only size class 2

Sorry to reply to myself... okay the deal about GMS for one last time...
On page 11 of DS II, under the section WEAPON FIT LIMITATIONS:, paragraph 4.
"Note that this refers to DIRECT FIRE WEAPON ONLY (include SLAM packs); other
weapons such as Guided Missile System, Point Defence, etc. all occupy fixed
amounts of capacity as listed in the systems
table on P.16, regardless of whether they are turret-mounted or
not."
So... I guess all GMS/H cost 4 capacity points, and it can be either
turrent or a fix mount depend on how the model display the GMS/H.

Salutations, folks...
I enjoy both Full Thrust and Stargrunt II. But I can't get into the
damage chits of Dirtside II. Anybody come up with a die-based solution?
Will Dirtside ever part with those #$!)% chits?

So, did everyone else miss my posting a month or two back?
I did the bloody thing, you can download the stuff from
http://www.swob.dna.fi/mini/gzg/
ds-inf.html is infantry fire table (for all things that don't go boom)
ds.html is vehicle fire table (for things that do) dsdam.zip is those two
combined ds.zip is the excel table everything's based on, including Excel
formatted result tables
ds-tab.zip is just the Excel result tables zipped
For those who bitch about transmission speed: You are free to redistribute
this provided relevant copyright sections are retained. I will even email the
stuff to ONE person if he puts it on a web page in the states.
The system uses 1d100, and it's accurate within a +-1% error margin. The
full Excel works contain much more precise numbers, if you want to do a 1d1000
table or something.
There is nothing special there. You may check the math if you want, though the
draw combinations are a bit more than your average pocket calculator can
handle.
> Will Dirtside ever part with those #$!)% chits?
Probably not, given that they didn't already do it.
Honest, Mikko, I think we all saw, even remembered, vaguely.
I haven't played a lot of Dirtside II recently, but was planning on trying
your set up when I did. Then, when this person posted his request, I realised
I should have put a pointer to your original note.
I suspect R Allen is new to the group(if I am in error, my apologies, R
Allen), and everybody else was waiting for you to speak up. Something
you've never had trouble with on any groups/lists we share. ;->=

PS. Thanks, Mikko, for your effort. I know many people like the chits, but I
found them a little awkward.

Mikko, dude, chill a little. Not everyone who is on the list now was on here a
month or two ago. Not everyone on the list is aware of or knows where the list
archives might be (hint, Jerry; plug time!;). And the archives have gotten
quite extensive; it's almost easier to just post the question and have someone
answer it real quick than to pour through the archives.

True enough. Sounds like the job for a search engine of some type....
Anyone thought about a search engine for the archives? Or a faster one if one
exists already?

So I did download the bloody thing and bloody well put it up on a webpage in
the US. If anyone wants it, here is my GZG webpage (which you cannot get from
my homepage which is really only suppose to be for science type stuff.)
Here is the link:

I have another table using a totally different approach. I have it formatted
in html if you want it or if someone is willing to place it up on a webpage
somewhere. Unfortunately I don't have a place for a webpage yet. It's 55k
zipped (it has 16 32X32 jpeg images).
Email me for it - let me know if you can't handle long file names.

I'm cool. I've learned that you need to repeat everything at least a dozen
times to reach any sort of general knowledge... maybe a couple of times less
if you have it in a FAQ.
In any case, is someone actually using my charts, or did the work go entirely
into the "academic interest" category?

And even if you love the chits in actual game, you can use the charts to
calculate possibilities and compare weapons.
