Beth,

I assume you (like the rest of us) have seen the standard small D6. Not the
micro miniature ones, just the ones about 0.6 or 0.7 cm across or thereabouts.
You can (amazingly) get the same coloured dice (identically) in sets of two
featuring the numbers 3 and 4 (or 6 I believe).

These could be used with legerdemain or diversionary attacks ("Bring the pop
from the fridge... I'll roll when you're return <switches>.... Oh, look a
six!"). You'd think this would stick out, but as long as you don't use them
for every roll, it'll often go un-noticed. At least, when a Federation
Command Cruiser with a spread of overloaded Photon Torpedos run by an old
friend Scott "blindsided" me with the 3's and 4's (needed 1-4 to hit)
and ripped my D7C several new orifices, I didn't have any idea. 6's are
obvious in large numbers. 3's and 4's don't stick out. Mix them with normal
dice to just skew up the average and for more stealth.

Now, I'm kind of attached to my abysmal rolls, otherwise I'd consider this.
Anyone who has seen me roll realizes I *should* follow such a plan but don't.
This is no cheesier than the gamer who has "favorite dice" but is
unwilling to submit them to a chi-squared test to validate their
fairness. And who won't let anyone else roll "his dice" for fear of using up
the luck
or contaminating them with a Kochte-like residue. They just like to
label their brand of cheese differently.

I like PBeMs, especially when Jon D has the keys to the dice.

I think the reference is to War Games Rresearch 'averaging' dice
(2,3,3,4,4,5).
With the fleet book, I think that this could do more damage than good. And not
even a mention of reputation!

Yes! If you start it after Easter, even us colonials should have it available
by then.

The Warlords, who organise Salute, have been doing some interesting dice
variations each year as freebies for attending punters - last year it
was the "extreme" D6, numbered 1,1,2,5,6,6, and this year a D3 (D6 with
1,1,2,2,3,3). Fun to have in the dice bag!

Variations like this are nice... until someone grabs it/them and
starts using it/them like normal d6, failing to realize for a bit that
they're not the usual natured dice expected.

Probably some 12+ years ago, in a game of BattleTech I participated
in, everyone at the table was astounded at the phenomenal luck of one player.
This individual was rolling mainly 7s and 11s, discovering a bit later that
one of the sets of dice he was using were novelty dice that were left on the
game table by mistake.

** Err... no. It was a reference to little d6's (that look like the normal
kind) with all 3's, all 4's or all 6's. The 3/4 combo is used for craps
I guess. They are cheaters dice.

G'day guys,

Appreciate the sentiment don't think it'd actually help, I could be rolling a
dice with nothing but 6s on it and the 'lords of dice' would still warp
reality and I'd end up with a 1;)

Beth - who's sure here probability professor would be in tears to hear
me utter a statement like that...

Yeah, well, I've just seen the end of a SG game where one of the players
failed all
reaction/confidence tests for his green unit, until we found out he had
grabbed a
D3. He didn't think it was all that fun :-)
I have also had people use my average dice in games. These days I keep them
separate from my other dice, as I wish the guys down at the local game store
(Flammans Spel) would do with their D3s!

Hey, now! You can't be President. You roll too FEW 1's! That's between me and
Beth (with Jerry Han running for some seat, also; I've seen some of his rolls
with his dalmation dice:)

"Ladies and gentlemen, our two candidates for President are here. Madame
Fulton and Mr.Kochte will each roll a d6, and will continue rolling until one
roll results in a six. The
first one to roll a six--loses the presidency."

(I'm betting that Indy's die would break in half and fall with
the pips down, resulting in a roll of zero--sorry, Beth).

Wasn't a six was it?;)
My lab mates no longer ask they just shake their head and smile -
especially since they found me playing with the conch shell again (I can't
help it it would just make one mind blowing phalon ship!)

Ahhh Glen you just disqualified yourself, you're only allowed to get 6s on
threshold checks;)
