Would someone on the list who has one of those Alps printers that were
recently discussed be willing to print me a sheet of decals that
I design? I'd be willing to pay handsom - er, I'd be willing to pay.

Thinkin' where I'll find images of Beavis + Butthead for noseart,

Ted, there are quite a few of us around who can print up your decals for
you, but the Beavis + Butthead noseart would be a no-no since you don't
have copyright permissions to reproduce them. :-)

Original art, public domain art, or written copyright permissions are
acceptable.

Oh jeeze give me a break... for personal use. You've got to be kidding me.

You have obviously not had to deal with this issue, and no I am not kidding
you. The potential statutory fines for willful copyright infringement are up
to $100,000 according to Section 501.C.2 of Title 17, and the last time I
looked the fact that it's for "personal use only" doesn't exempt one from
liability.

US Copyright Myth #1: "Personal Use" == "Fair Use".
It doesn't - read the law.

US Copyright Myth #2: Non-commercial use = no infringement.
Wrong again. Copyright laws do not care if any money has exchanged hands.

Please try and know a little about what you're talking about before
knee-jerking a response next time. While I am not a lawyer, my work as
a software developer and product designer has exposed me to the harsh
realities of what Copyrights and Trademarks actually are. While there is
reasonably little risk when designing personal fan web sites of getting hit
with a legal hammer, doing commision work - which is what we were
talking
about here - must be taken more seriously.

Maybe he doesn't like Beavis + Butthead ...

No, Mark, I understand your concerns.

BTW--why would B&B still be around in 20 years, much less 200?
And if they're not around, as I trust God they will not be, why would you have
them as nose art? Might as well take a few minutes and come up with something
original and higher
quality--and "a few minutes" is all it would take.

<stepping up on soap box>
Well, they won't be around that long - but _I_ still think
they're cool. Lighten up a little - I'm not creating what
I think will be a "real" military vehicle in the year 2318,
I'm detailing a stupid piece of resin for a _game_!

I just think that "pin-up babes" are kinda overdone and I
remember some cool nose art I've seen along the way - Bill
the Cat on an M1 in the Gulf, the Chaos symbol on a HMMWV
when I was in Haiti ... That's nose art for today - and
maybe tomorrow...

Yeah, Beavis + Butthead are stupid and pointless bits of
(copyrighted) pop culture, but when I want to put nose-art
on a pair of APCs it's only appropriate for one to be
Beavis and the other to be Butthead ... (Ah, kewl. Hu-hu-hu.)

</stepping off soap box>

"So, ah, could someone help me or somethin'?" "Shut up, Beavis! These people
are serious gamers!" "Lemme alone, Butthead! Someone'll want our money to make
some kewl stickers!"

Thanks,
