I'm going to the USA for a couple of conventions in June (possibly via the
UK).
My itinery includes:
Origins (30/6-3/7)
Ket-Tusmit Bordercon (8/7-10/7 in Toronto)
possibly ComicCon (14/7-17/7)
Anyone know of any GZG events during that period?

Brendan,
If you were coming via the UK.. Pop into Bifrost in Birmingham.

It is on the 3rd of July, so it almost clashes with Origins. It is a small
event compared to the mighty Origins but the focus is SCI-FI and fantasy
and the games and traders are an excellent mix. GZG will be trading at the
event. Well worth a visit!

I was looking on Origins site for Dean's FT Crossover. Robin, I was going to
tell you to register early; I always try to squeeze in too late, and it's VERY
popular. However, I'm not seeing it. Worse comes to worst, I'll bring a bunch
of SW and ST micromachines, and we can try something off the
cuff...
Dean, can't make it this year?
I see two fleet book based events, and a Full Impulse (FT 3-D?), one
Stargrunt, and one DirtSide, all but the Full Impulse part of a string of
games, and by the same person, but can comment on none of those.
I'll be at Origins, so keep an eye out for a greybearded fellow with a
cossack-style scalplock.

I'll be at GenCon like usual, I've never been to Origins (not that I wouldn't
like to, it is just difficult enough to get the time away from the family for
GenCon. A second convention even farther away a month earlier would be pushing
it too far....though my wife is flying to California for a Star Wars Galaxies
convention in June)

Delusional, am I. I'm even having deja vu, as if we've had this discussion
last year. I've GOT to get my meds adjusted...
'95 through the first year in Indianapolis, I went to GenCon. One year of
both, and I'd have to say Origins is more a gamer's con, though GenCon has
definite appeal to a dilettante such as moi. Sounds like the strong guest list
prolly appeals to your wife.
I wish I could so entice my SO, but she's as ho-hum to, say, stars from
Buffy and B5 as she is to moving small, painted pieces of lead across a
blanket-covered table. *shrug*

I attended GenCon from 95 to 2000. Haven't been since.
We thought of going to GenCon this year, but once again they have it on the
first week of school. Since Logan starts first grade that week, we can't go to
the convention. Apparently, if the dates hold up, next year might be feasible.
We were planning to go to Origins this year, but our second beta test client's
installation is scheduled for that weekend. It's looking likely
that I'll have to be around for it, meaning that Origins is a bust for us,
too.
I, personally, would prefer to go to Historicon, but Pennsylvania is a bit too
far to drive from down here just for a weekend. The HMGS chapter
has their convention in three weeks time, but it's quite a bit smaller than
Historicon and I'm not sure I can get away that weekend.
One of these days I'll get to another convention...
Hi, Allan. For some reason, you carboned to the digest list, so I've seen your
reply twice. If it wasn't your faux pas, you might mention this on list for
Mark to check.
Historicon is very tempting, but Origins is a LONG way to go already, so, like
ECC, Historicon is out of the question for the time being for moi. If my
friend hits the lottery, and retirement travel becomes the space between
cons...
Let those of us going to Origins know if you have a change of plans. Bare
minimum, I'll treat you to your favorite tipple...

No, it was sort of my fault. I clicked "reply to all" instead of
"reply". I, of course, noticed this _after_ I clicked the send button
but _before_ the message disappeared from my screen, just so that I can
feel stupid about it right away.

I will do that. We really wanted to go. We were going to bring two friends who
have never gone to a big convention, too. However one of them can't go. Then
my company decided to install our software on our next beta test client on
that weekend. Considering how many companies
end their monthly fiscal period at the end of the month, I may _never_
be able to go to a convention that spans the first couple of days of a month.
*sigh*
If something happens and my plans change, I'll let you know!
