Hello all,
I have been wondering what everyone is using for a scaling measurement on
combat walkers in 25mm SG2. What is the smallest a Class 1 Walker can be
before relly being PA and how big can it get before really being a Class 2?
Eli
Good question, I am painting some Battletech Mech's (Piranha - circa
35mm
to 'ocular viewer', Commando - circa 33mm to 'eyes', and this four
legged
'spider/crab looking' unit - circa 19mm to "knees" (highest part,)
plus
some bird/beaked Proto-mechs (circa 21mm to 'eyes') and wonder what they
would rate as for DS2. All measurements *very* approximate (plastic 6" ruler
with cm markings...)
Size 6 for the Proto-mechs and Size 7 for the Mechs? Almost seems too
little...
Would Pendraken 1/200th (?) PA count as Size 1 or 2?
What about BattleTech PA figures? I think I might have some I bought on
speculation for DS 2.

I have several of the BT PAs that I use in my DS army. The Grey Death and
Inner Sphere ones make for good PAs. I use the Grey Death as
jump-capable because they appear to have wings.
The Marik ones, the ones with the Greek names, "Prometheus, Epimethius, etc) I
use these as nastier PAs basing them 2 to a base rather than the three I do
for my standard PA, though you could base them 1 for 1 and call them combat
walkers but I personally think they lack the bulk to be combat walkers any
bigger than Class 1.

We play in 15mm here but the ratios should work out about the same. I've been
starting a 25mm skirmish army in anticipation (ok so I'm an optimist) of FMA
Skirmish.
I consider a combat walker size one if the infantry miniture can just barely
fit into the torso. Or if you want a size comparison to other vehicles, it
should be about the size of a jeep. I'd go with something about 7cm tall and
bulky.
A Heavy Gear Mammoth would be a good size 1+ walker.
The miniatures I am using are a bunc hof the old, large scale RAFM
Jovian Chronicles mecha - some of the nicest mecha ever to see the light
of lead.

hmm.. I remember seeing the Sireen model last time I was at American Eagle but
I don't think they had any of the others. I'll have to check next time I'm
down. I'm planning on doing an Anime style 25mm squad so that would fit right
it.
Hi Eli,
I use old-scale Heavy Gear models for walkers in 25mm SG. They're great
scale-wise as far as I'm concerned. They have a whole bunch of
different models, but I generally go by the idea that the "little ones" are
size
1,
and the "big ones" are size 2.
For bigger size walkers try to find some of the (Kryomek?) Walkers -
done by... um... Hmmm. I'm sure part of the old Kryomek line.
The problem of course with these is that both lines (old scale HG and Kryomek)
are now hard to find. Ish.
I have about 50 old scale HG kits waiting around, which is why I used those.
Actual size wise - I'd go with maybe up to 45mm/1.75in tall for size 1.
But it's kinda fuzzy... where the specific difference between a size 1 and
size 2 is, when the figures are relatively close in actual size.

You might look at I-Kor's walkers.
Korvus (bird leged walker) would be a good size 2 for 25mm or
size 2-3 for 15mm.
Tiger (4-leged) would make a small size-3 for 25mm or size 3
for 15mm.
