Hi, gang. Um, am I the only one who gets a 75K attachment every time Chris
McCurry posts a message? The file is an encap*.ond file (which a friend tells
me is an X400 oddity). Whatever the file, it contains some Lotuscript and the
name Catherine Duffy, a Lotus Notes template developer for Iris (writers of
Lotus Notes).
Anyway, Chris could you PLEASE kill this thing? I currently have 350K of hard
drive space wasted due to these files. I'd hate to see what would
happen if I didn't check my e-mail for a week or two, let alone if I
actually had to pay for online time. I'm surprised no one else has mentioned
it. And that the poor server can handle it...

Probably. They're 100K when I get them:(

Argh! I've come to really hate Lotus Notes over the last 6 or 7
months - any idea what causes this file to be attached,
so I can avoid doing it myself?
Unfortunatly, I'm forced to use Notes :-(

I'm not sure. I use Lotus Notes at work and I've never seen this kind of
thing. Perhaps it has something to do with the way the Internet gateway works.
Presumably these oddities will go away when your company upgrades from a Notes
server to a Domino server.
The problem could be related to sending the email in Rich Text Format (eg MS
Exchange). Mail clients that do not support the embellishments that you place
in the email will receive an annoying attachment. I know this is happening to
some of our users and addressing this has solved the problems. The actual
solution is to look at the Properties for the email listing in the Personal
Address Book and ensure that the Use Rich Text Format is not selected.
Good Luck

If it turns out he can't turn off the attachments, maybe he should try a
different email program. I have no idea what kind of system he is using to
access the list...but if at all posible, he should try netscape 2.0
browser(with the included email program) I have found it works very
well...
I hope this helps.
