This was run by Owen Glover <oglover@mov.vic.gov.au> and was based on a
certain incident in a movie, which for copyright reasons, escapes me just now.
Bugs Don't Surf was be a helpful title.

On the beach and in from the dunes were 3 kravak air defence weapons, a hidden
squad of?5, and an HQ. The forces of goodness, righteousness and Imperial
oppression ( or should that be, enlightenment) were a 4 squad platoon of OU
infantry in VTOL transports. These squads were to suppress the Kravak, detach
a figure to race across the beach to the nicely modelled surf and moved to the
line of the breaking waves. (Did I say the terrain was good?) The game ended
when the surfer made it to the line of the breaking waves. This swim would
have been tricky unless the OU troops suppressed the Kravak.

The rules were slightly simplified by not adding all to terrain and cover
modifiers (especially for the Kravak and new players). There were laminated
rules and squad summaries for the players and plenty of dice. The figures were
the GZG Oceanic Union infantry with the exception of the sniper in "Yowie"
suit and the harlequin SAM. Duncan Robertson used the NEW OU power armour
figures as one of his squads when he played. Sadly their airdrop landed them
on some well prepared kravak squad and they were left with a wounded troooper
and a no longer power armoured communications guy. These poor chaps were sadly
finished off by one of my gunships crash landing directly on them. (The crew
survived) Sorry Duncan.

Anyway it was fun and a good introduction and the trooper made it to the surf.

Ask Nic Robson @ eureka Miniatures about the new OU figures.
(Don't mention the Humpty Dumpty power armour - Ooops)

MarkS, it's BRENDAN Robertson, not Duncan (where did Duncan come from?).

I'm still annoyed about that gunship...

Moral of the story: Don't orbitally insert PA by triangulating from bug
positions.

More OOps. Many apologies. try blaming jet lag-not that it would work.

Could have claimed that it was indeed NOT YOU and that Duncan bloke (That way
some face would be saved).but that would have been less than truthful.

Enjoyable games though
