Not the only problem with calendars on alien worlds. The various religious
calendars are closely linked to earth astronomy.

Easter is on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring
equinox. Go figure that out for Epsilon Eridani.

The Islamic calendar has similar quirks. Thus the beginning of Ramadan is also
linked to the moon. In such a way that it starts on a different day in Morocco
and Indonesia.

And how should a devout Muslim turn towards Mecca for his prayers if Mecca is
directly overhead?

There are some places which where you have to keep track of where Sol is, and
there are some places where they feel having a local qiblah is better than the
appearance of praying to a star.

We could define "some places" as the righteous Islamic Federation of the
faithful, and "other places" as those temporarily occupied by the heretical
dogs of the so-called Saeed Khalifate.
