Subject: Burst Pods

I tried writing this earlier but netscape crashed and the message never
actually got sent, so here's most of what I originally said.

I'm still rattling the burst pod idea around in my head. I don't like the idea
of using more then 1 biomass for a pod, but I can't see any other way of
balancing it.

The Phalon PBLs are: Size Mass Cost 1 5 15 2 10 30 3 15 45 4 20 60 5 25 75

Two leading "costs" for the burst pod are:

Size Biomass Energy 1 2 10 2 4 20 3 8 40 4 16 80

Size Biomass Energy 1 3 12 2 6 18 3 9 27 4 12 36 5 15 45

The other alternative is to limit the burst pods to a class 1 PB only.
I'm sorta leaning towards that idea. I'd probably make it 2/10 but 3/12
is probably better

Burst Pods:
* requires X biomass/Y energy
* max range 24mu within launcher's arc * acts as Phalon PB

This is probably easier to do and you could get the "effect" of heavy PBs in
fire from big SV by overlapping the burst pods.

I was having the same one. Mostly the idea of pumping that much biomass
through a pod launchers irks me wrong.

So I'm thinking 2 biomass/10-15 power for a class 1 PB.

Phalong PB: 5 mass / 15 cost

The big difference is a pod launcher has 1/3 the arch and 6mu less range
but can fire twice as much.
