I have had my eye on:
http://www.tin-soldier.com/sg/dreenoi.html
or
http://www.stanjohansenminiatures.com/klackon.htm
They may not be the best figs ever, but both are pretty cheap (compared to GW
that is for sure!) and they look like they would be a snap to paint too.

Their drop pods look like Daleks.

It's a disguise. They really are Daleks. :-)
KLACKONS are decent, been around since the late 70s or early 80s.
they were for use with FGU and a.mark ratnor's nice SPACE MARINE rules from
the 70s.
Painted up they look good.
and you can model them without weaponry.
and reasonably priced too. stan ohnason is esy to deal with.
if you go with REVIRESCO, john mcewan is a very nice man too. fast service,
good service.
my first sci-rules and miniatures ever were from mcewan-STARGUARD,
which i still play in its 5th edition.
decent skirmish rules, simple, flexible, too.
If you have bugs, you can do ground actions from ISW-4 (In Death Ground
+ Shiva option).
I think I'm going to have to order electronic copies of the ISW-4 and
Insurrection books from the Starfire Design group.

If you order ISW-4 and need the StarFire rules, get StarFire 3rd
eddition. The fourth eddition rules are called Galatic StarFire. In Galatic
SF, all the weapons and techs have been changed, so it's hard to figure out
what's
what from ISW-4. The good news is that StarFire Design Studios has
lowered there prices on alot of there product.

Emperor Dalek turns to the Dalek working feverishly at his side.... "Sigh....
And how did he find out? Which one of you has been gossiping at the drink
fountain again? Hmmm?"
;)

What's a Dalek doing at a drinking fountain...?
Oh - of course! He's chosen Plumbing rather than Death that morning,
hasn't
he.....?
;-)
G'day Jon,
