Net connection's been off for a week during an office move but we're finally back online again. Only another 400 e-mails to trawl through ... The Cronus is intended to be BattleTech compatible but it's a VBM (Very Big Mech). It stands somewhere around 7cm tall and is very chunky - the missile launchers are about 4cm long. Hence the relatively high price, which we've had some quibbles about but you get a lot of lead (and resin) for your money. Tony > DOCAgren@aol.com wrote: > Hello,

Well, I don't know that I'd go quite that far, but yeah. I would say it was "heavily inspired by" the Destroid Monster.:) J John K. Definitely inspired by.... but actually quite a bit different in the details. Put a picture of the Cronus next to a picture of the Mac2 and you'll see what I mean. > John K Lerchey wrote: > Well, I don't know that I'd go quite that far, but yeah. I would say

I always wanted to build a Mech for Battle Tech based on the Destroid Monster with 3 power plants, a three man cockpit and the 4 Long Toms and 6 ER PPCs or something suitably larger. If you look at the Destroid Monster there are even some very large vents on the back that would make a great argument for a massive array of heat sincs. The cost would be enormous. Great for taking out Dropships.... http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/models/yellowsub/ys_monster.jpg Then there is http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/models/yellowsub/ys_monstersize.jpg That's in scale iirc from the macross mecha drawings for pre-production. ie in scale to the Defender/Rifleman, Spartan/Archer, Phalanx/Longbow, Tomahawk/Warhammer, Tactical Pod Glaug/Maruader Macross/BattleTech Mechs. I figure a Monster would be somewhere in the range of a 500 ton mech, more on the scope of an Anti-Drop Ship craft with massive weapons. http://brianscache.com/unseen/

Id kill for a model of the Monster. MAC III I think it was called? The miniature is close enough I will probably pick it up but a model would be even more cool. At one point the toy was out and I actually saw one in the toy store but wasn't quick or smart enough to pick it up then. Jason [quoted original message omitted]

Well, I'll be danged. I've got a toy of that Monster thing, sitting on a shelf somewhere. Die-Cast and plastic, I've always thought of it as a good 15mm artillery piece. From the looks of that one picture, though, it may actually be in B-Tech scale already....
