It's almost too bad that you started playing FT after Micro Machines stopped
making their Star Wars and Star Trek lines. I have a large shoebox full of the
things that I collected a few years ago... which is rather nice when I feel
like running fleet actions of almost any size or f lavor. They were cheap,
too... although it started to add up with the number of ships I bought. The
Toys R Us people were always a little weirded out when I'd buy several
packages of the same set at a time because I wanted to have enough similar
ships that I'd be able to fly fleets of similar ships instead of having to mix
and match every time.

A local hobby/toy/gaming store has a few sets, but they're selling them
at collector prices (over $10 a pop).

How big of a set is that? If that's for the small packs that had three ships
in them, I don't know if I'd go for it... if that's for the larger
ones that had 15-20, though, that might be a bit better.

Micro machines made a spaceship line that was pretty nifty, but I got in
on the tail end of the production (only in the bargain bins and only a few
good ones left) I think there were 8 sets. I've been looking for spaceship
figs like that ever since I got started on space minis. alas, I cannot find
any cool cheap plastic spaceship figgies in a scale that is even close to FT.
I did get a bargain when a guy sold me a wooden carry box wth about 100 silent
death figs for US$50. Heck the box was worth that alone.

Eric,
Too true. Though I am in a quandary as the ships/figures etc I still
have in the original package are going for 5x the cost I paid for them. I am
tempted to sell them but Los keeps giving me "the look" when I mention it.

Greetings. For a cheap Full Thrust fleet I started with the six sided counters
that came with Babylon 5 Wars 1st ed. I then photocopied some counter sheets
from Starfire and Star Fleet Battles on to red and blue paper. The Kzinti
(SFB) and Gorm (Starfire) counters work best for this as you have a dark ship
against a light or white background, the ship copies, the background does not.
Cut out the counters of the ships you would like. Glue the copies on to the
back of the Babylon 5 counters. Apply a coat of puzzle saver to really seal
the two together. Puzzle saver is a glue designed to soak into a puzzle and
dry clear once you have completed it. You now have a counter that shows the
six weapon arcs and gives a letter and numerical designation of the ship ie.
DD1, CL4 or CVL2. The Babylon 5 counters only have a number on them, so unless
all of the players know the difference between the various ships shown on the
counters keeping track of several
ships with the same number could pose a problem. This method gave me two
fleets of 95 ships. The Starfire counters give you basic naval designations,
CA, DD, CL, BC while the SFB counters give you some varient designations, NCA,
DW, CS, BCH. Note that later editions of Babylon 5 Wars use 4 sided counters
and so will not work for this.
