After lurking here for a while I finally got a copy of DS. I see that my plan
to use GW epic figures wasn't as original as I had first thought. :-)
But I ran into some questions.
How do you mount them? First, I have both the old square bases, which I
prefer. And the newer inline bases. Which do others use? Does anyone use both?
How about mounting the teams? Use the same bases? Use less figures?

I use the old square bases, and base three figures on each stand. Gives me a
lot more stands, in the end. I just use a bit of putty or glue to fill up the
unused holes.
That's only for actual GW figures, though. For others, I use 20mm X 20mm metal
bases, sold by "Wargame Accessories". Again, three figures to a base, or 2
Powered Armor, or 2 regulars and a support weapon.
And of course I forgot my last question, sorry.
Is anyone willing to share their statistics for the various Epic vehicles? I'd
like to compare notes. If no one has posted a collection of these on the web,
would there be any interest in my posting mine?

I like this, allows for some variety in positioning of the figures, also.

I mount troops on a roughly 1" x 1" base--usually four/stand for line
troops and three or two figs for special teams (GMS, etc.).

I don't use wide stands because at the ground scale of DS2 you'd have a
fireteam spread out over a ridiculous amount of ground (at least in my humble
opinion). And if you used a "shorter-width" stand, then the troops
would have to be placed pretty close together and that wouldn't look right. At
least IMHO.
Besides, with the roughly 1" stands, I can use the figures for other rules
that I like--Crossfire, Spearhead, CD, and others (yes, I know those are
WW2 rules, but at 6mm scale as long as you paint the figures in the
appropriate colors, who can tell the difference anyway?).

I use a US penny with 3 infantry personnel glued to it. Large enough to make
some variation in possitions, but small enough to hide in terrain. Main
reason? Cost. How much cheaper can you get (at least in the US). I also have
specialized infantry units mounted differently. I have 2 for a snyper team and
1 for a motorized scout (on motorcycle).

And mounted this way you can even use them for infantry
(read--sacrificial
lambs) playing the "Ogre" miniatures game...
(yes, I have a few mounted this way as well)
