I have to say I'm somewhat unimpressed by the attitude of Agets of Gaming
towards all of us on this side of the world. I noticed on their web page they
state that even were they to have a licence to distribute B5Wars in Europe
that wouldn't until they satisfy
US/Canadian demand first. Perhaps I'm being a bit touchy about this
but I have to wonder if our money isn't as good as those on the other side of
the Atlantic. Although the fact that the game seems to be shaping up as
another SFB (lots of expensive modules), is quite unappealing in any case.

Anyway thats my rant for tonight...

I would put this down to Distributor/Maker ( pecking order, power
plays, making sure everypne knows who is really the boss etc, etc) politics
and that it is pretty much out of there hands. If they didn't 'play by the
rules', they would run into problems...

But, I have my copy of the boxed set anyway 8^)

But to bring it back on Topic:

What happened to 'The Legends of Galactic Heroes' rule ideas for FT?

There are some battles in that show!!!!!!

I agree its a bit rich - the European games market is non-trivial - I
would even think its greater than Canada just on population density. Given as
it looks like were moving to a single currency in 1999 things will really open
up then. Some companies just don't have a global perspective. If you contrast
that to what GZG do for their size it makes some of the others look a bit
pathetic.

I agree with your last point - having been a "customer" of some of the
byzantine rule books the size of telephone directories and modules from ADB
for the last 11 odd years I think I only want it for the counters and
miniatures anyway. If youuse FT and one of the very good B5 conversions
(Mk's
being my fave) - who needs it.

Any news on the European debut of the Earth Source Book for the RPG with the
official FT B5 rules in JT?

sincerely

If you send me some, I'll help you find out... ;-)

Well, Iguess this is both true and not true - it seems there will be
plenty of books covering plenty of ships, but not neccesarily creating new
rules. Although my perceptions could be mistaken... We'll have to see...

Funny, when I got rid of my SFB crap, that's the only thing I kept -
the small hex map and the counters. I decided to get rid of the SSD's, and I
still don't know if that was a good idea...

Not yet - CE/WF keep telling me "soon" for the US release, but the UK
one will be whenever Titan gets its corporate digit out...

I can understand your point of view but I don't think AOG is doing this

because 'your money is not as good.' There are a few points you have to take
into consideration which you may not know about. AOG has never produced a game
like this before and it moving into it slowly and not producing a million
copies in their first printing. Their first production run did not even
satisfy the initial demand for the game in the US alone. Canada is just
getting their first copies now. On the B5 mailing list there are a number of
posts by hopeful future players looking to find a game for sale in their area.
They also say "Reaper Miniatures
is shipping our 1,000 sets' worth of miniatures on 10/14/97. As soon as
we have them assembled, they'll be sent out to fill as many orders as
possible." Which I take to mean that they will still have to leave some orders
unfilled. Why should they stop filling orders in the US and Canada and send
part of their limited production overseas?

To put it in a GZG perspective, say when the Fleet Book comes out, Jon knows
he can sell 1,000 copies in the UK. His initial run is 1,000 copies but he
takes 300 of them and send them to the US. A few of us in the US would be
happy but far from all, and in the UK, if you were one of those who missed
out, you would wonder why the US got copies and you did not.
 I
think if you have started to fill the demand for a product in one area,

you should not stop and send the product elsewhere, but should finish where
you started before you go to the next area.

I think that it is basically fleet tactics (to get it on topic:) Do you want
to spread out your fire and damage all the enemy ships a little or

concentrate fire and destroy some each turn.

Just my thoughts,

hey -- Hey -- HEY! Let's have none of that!

Now, I don't want to hear another word about NOT shipping the fleet book to
the U.S.!

What's the matter, you wanna start a riot? You aren't one of them

So down in Australia and New Zealand we'd have to rely on photocpies!? NOT!

There WILL be sufficient copies and we WILL all get one!

Hey, forget about the other side of the Atlantic, it's all we can do to get it
in the Great White North. One of my local stores ordered 12 copies. They
received 2. One was returned because parts were missing. That was soon after
GenCon. Two months later and nothing. The other local store that was
interested in it didn't get any at all. Funny enough, both stores have
blisters of the individual figures (which, equally funny enough, aren't
selling).

I heard that they ran out and are now reprinting the game. I'm rather
unimpressed with the figures, so if the reprint comes with the new figures
I'll consider it.
