Hi All, We in the UK finally got to see the episode of B5 that you lucky Yanks
have been raving about.... If there are any Aussies reading this or others
that have not seen "The" Episode please read no further......

.......
The fights with the Alexander and the massed Star Furies, clobbering the
Roanoke etc. I think this has got to be by far the best episode of B5 I have
ever seen, even Ground combat with the B5 security staff and the Narn V the
Marine
Corps......

Makes a refreshing change to most of the rest of this series, very anti
climactic after thend of the second series, but this was worth waiting
for.....

Just a general query to our cousins across the Atlantic, is the rest of the
series like this? Or was this a one off, no details please just the feel of
it.....

Regarding 'Severed Dreams'. Great apart from the boarding action. Ok so when
the breeching
pod landed and they knew where - why not just seal the area - wait till
they disembarked & then open it to space, no problems & no casualties. I
understand that it made a better dramatic scene. Also are the Narns dumb or
what charging massed PPG fire and getting wiped out was totally stupid, why
didn't they just get into cover & blast anyone coming through
the hole. This whole scene was totally un-believable.

The rest however as brilliant, FT the Motion Picture. Don't you just wish
Earth Force had challenged D'elen.

Probably because the Marines were carrying breeching charges for just such an
occasion. This may sound like a rationalization but it follows the doctrine we
use for urban warfare (don't use the obvious, existing doors; make your
own).

Narn cultural disposition for up close combat and contempt for cowering in
cover? Heck, these guys still carry swords and daggers so I wouldn't put it
past the rank & file Narn to think like old Earth samurai.

Most of the follow-up stories have been dealing with plot more than
action.
The two-part season finale is a great episode, though, but not for the
same reasons. It cleans up a couple of plot threads from two years ago and
gives you far more insight into what's been happening and what's coming. From
a story point of view, it's far better than the episode you've just seen (to
be honest, that episode was an "eye-candy" combat episode with no
pretentions at anything else, and I still loved it, but there wasn't much of a
plot to it).

If the season finale is anything to go by, the first couple of episodes in the
4th season will be great.

JMS, in a message on CI$ two years ago, mentioned that B5 was going to have a
small number of "kicker" episodes in the first season and build up so that the
fourth and fifth seasons are mostly "kickers" (kicker is my term; I forget the
one he used). I think we're seeing where he's leading.

I believe he termed them *wham* episodes.

Yeah, that's the term! Unfortunately, our local B5 station (CFTO, part of the
Baton Broadcasting System, hack, spit) has decided not to carry B5 next
season. Their excuse is that Warner was too slow in announcing the 4th season
and all the money's gone. Rumour has it that their program director doesn't
particularly like the show and got tired of the flack they received when they
started bouncing the show around. There's a grass roots campaign to get a
local independant to get the show. If that doesn't work, I'm going to shell
out the bucks for a US pay TV station that carries it. Oh, well, it's only two
more years...

Good luck. If it gets real bad, I'm sure you can possibly 'borrow' tapes from
someone somewhere...

No storyline spoilers, but I'll put the lines in just to be sure....

As I understand it, "War Without End, parts I & II" is NOT the seaon finale.
Each season has 22 episodes, which means we should have 5 episodes to go. I
hunted around online and found the following (sorry, don't remember where).
The numbers are episode numbers.

60. “War Without End, Part One” (5/13/96)

61. “War Without End, Part Two” (5/20/96)

Not yet aired (at least, not here):

62. “ Walkabout”

63. “Grey 17 is Missing”

64. “And the Rock Cried Out, No Hiding Place”

65. “Shadow Dancing”

66. <title classified>

Not anywhere. Channel-4 get 'em first. 8-)

There are enough of us in our circle of friends (at least eight of us) that
SOME of us will get B5. I like the show enough that I'll pay for an American
Superchannel that broadcasts it if it's the only way I can see it. I'd rather
not go to that expense, though.
