After, thinking about it. I have decided NOT to dump my B5 rules conversions.
In fact, I've just made a couple of changes: *Heavy lasers weigh less (MASS
3), cost more (30 points), and have a 1 turn recharge period.
*Interceptors are now multi-arc versions of my dustcasters.
They can either represent a single screen that defends one to three arcs, or a
PDAF that defends against fighters in one to three arcs.

I'll be coming up with EA ships very soon. Narn and Centauri will follow suit.

Mark,

Where do these changes put Battle Lasers? In my own rules I was thinking of
moving them to hit like heavy lasers, but do 3 points of damage and only
double on a 5 or 6, from their current 2
damage, doubling on 4-6.

I'm tempted not to include battle lasers and just give the Centarui ships
heavy lasers. I could make a modified A battery the battle lasers, but since
I'm already using modified AA's for HL, I don't want to confuse things. BTW,
I've made one final small change to the HL's. Instead of giving them a 1 turn
delay for "recharging," you now must spend a thrust point to recharge a single
HL.

I'd be in agreement with Mark here, keeping the heavy/battle lasers as
'generic
lasers'. I mean, after all, the A/B/C-batteries easily enough represent
the
other various pulse/plasma/laser-type cannons, no?

Admittedly, I haven't studied your rules any yet (no time!), but I guess it
would totally depend on how generic or specific (and more complicated?)
you want things to be. Your call. ;-)

Basically, the pluse cannons are represented by beam batts. (Who's B5 rules
don't use the same system). Plasma cannons are rpresented by the pluse
torpedo. Now that I think about it, I really want to keep it as simple as

possible. I'll drop the plasma cannons and stick to standard guns.
