Subject: B5 First Ones Miniatures
The following message was sent to the B5 Wars list but I think there would be some interest on this list too. If you want miniatures of the First Ones ships from B5 (for use with EFSB rules of course) now is your chance to let AOG know since the proposed boxed set won't be cheap. These will not have point values, as they are scenario-specific units not intended for use in free-form or tournament games (and in several of their cases, I'm not sure a properly balanced point value could be reached through playtesting). The question now arises: what about miniatures? The problem is, while these are ultra-cool-looking designs (if you have forgotten what they look like, some good shots are available at http://www2.gdi.net/~labrown/fo_ships.htm), they are probably not going to be good sellers individually since they are not designed for general use. They would, however, make excellent collectibles. This means they would probably be better off sold as a set in their own box. (Who's going to buy just one of them? Anyone who's willing to get one will probably get them all, anyway.) So, let us imagine there are five of these things in a box, and each is around the size and weight of a Sharlin or Primus (perhaps slightly larger). How many of you would purchase such a product? Keep in mind the cost will probably be at least $49.95 and more likely $59.95, since we will have to amortize the cost of 5 different sculptings over the life of this one boxed product. Be honest here - this is going to be an expensive production if we choose to make it, and if it isn't going to sell, we need to know now! Feel free to post your answer either to the List or to me as a private email. Thanks! --Agent One - -- Agent One: Bruce H.
