I'm having way too much trouble keeping the ships I'm carving symmetric! ; ->= I seem to recall a Fasa Klingon being offside, but if there was a fig, it'd be huge bucks. Have you looked at old GW Space Marine? The earlier Eldar had one or two, I think the prism cannon was one, that were supposed to be tankish, but might work for space ships, and were rather asymmetric. I see them fairly oft in bargain bins. In the final analysis, many regular ships that have 'wings' or the like would convert pretty easily, cutting off and polishing one side. I'd think a big box of Silent Death plastics would be a good place to start. The_Beast -Douglas J. Evans, curmudgeon One World, one Web, one Program - Microsoft promotional ad

Glen Bailey has a B5 Wars Narn DD miniature. He did an SSD for it on his web page at http://hometown.aol.com/gbailey/NarnDD.html [quoted original message omitted]

*** I did notice. But I bought a batch of ships in April. Some of them are mostly painted now, some of them I'm hoping to assemble some time soon. *** Didn't mean to sound like a lecture; you have to forgive my native tendencies. Given my incredible cheapness, I'm loathe to risk figs for which I've actually paid money. Am I correct in assuming the ships you have are GZG IF's? IF so... I think some of the IF ships would convert (;->=) nicely. Taking a larger ship, trimming back both wings some, and fixing a smaller hull on one wing could look VERY impressive. Variations might include leaving one 'wing' intact, cutting the other in half, and putting the secondary hull between the two wing halves, or even sticking the smaller hull to the trimmed wing, and leaving the smaller hull's other wing on. It depends on how many ships you have left to assemble, and how big a risk taker you are. The advantage is that these would 'fit' well with the ships you have. The_Beast -Douglas J. NAC Avalon class BDN and the NAC Ark Royal class fleet supercarrier, to a lesser extent, many of the FB1 designs have _some_ asymmetry, while most of the alien designs are largely symmetric. In fact the most symmetrical GZG designs are the new IF and UNSC designs! I'd just say keep you old designs, just choose (or invent) a nation/race to assign them to.

I don't do anything special for my assymetric ships (mostly the NI stealth ships). I just tend to imagine the mini yawed and pitched to expose all weapons to one side or the other. Actually mounting the mini this way might be very cool.

I have one mini that has the top of the post bent. This places it at a 45 degree roll. The ship is a NAC Miyazaki (see Geo-Hex's web site for picture of a Miyazaki; our HTTP access is down, so I can't provide a direct URL). This is an asymertirc miniature, an looks very cool with the wing reaching up. This was done by accident, but I have thought of doing more of them using piano wire. ----- Brian Bell bkb@beol.net ----- > -----Original Message-----
