One of the guys approched me the other day during the set up for a game of
full thrust, he wanted boarding shuttles...
so we came up with the following
assult shuttle mass 6 cost 20
each assult shuttle carriers 6 marines, record this with a d6 like you would
for normal fighters, and whenever the assult shuttle takes a hit, record the
loss of a marine
at the time of the boarding action, note the total number of marines from all
shuttles that attack the ship in that turn, divide by 4 and as per standard
boarding action.

actually we were lookin for something more like a fighter, that could be
optionally replace fighters. we were hoping a small shuttle type of craft that
would use the fighter movement system there by removing the need to have to
guess the movement orders of the target.

Personally, I usually just design a ship & allocate extra boarding die on a 1
Mass = 1 Boarding Factor basis. This seems to convert right when
using the DSII/MT conversion.
This gives a mass 6 assault shuttle the following: Mass: 6 (35 pts) FTL: No
Thrust: 8
Hits: 3 (1/2)
Needle Beam (to disable drives) PDAF 2 x Assault Infantry (2 pts) Total
assault factor: 3 Die (including base crew of 1 dice)
As an option, replace the Needle Beam with a further +2 Infantry (5 Die
assault)

There would be one problem with using fighter rules, it makes boarding actions
too easy. The main idea of the current MT boarding rules is to limit the
possibility of boarding as this is actually the easiest method of taking down
a capital ship. (provided enough boarders are available). If you are going to
use fighter rules, then probably allow PDAF fire in defence to counter the
need to match vectors.
Also keep in mind that a mass 6 shuttle/fighter bay can hold ANY ship of
appropriate mass, either fighters, shuttles or a FTL corvette.
Regarding your footer, they still haven't started 4th season in Australia yet,
so stop rubbing it in...

Yes in the game we played them in, the assult shuttles were subject to normal
*DAF fire, just a fighters, assume each shuttle in the 6 craft group carries 1
marine, then count the number of craft that get thru interception and
defensive fire...
We also played where the assult shuttles were subject to fighter interception,
they fought like torpedo fighters, i.e. not very well. this was the less then
sterling result of there action in the first game...a group of interceptors
had them for lunch

Would the Assault Shuttle be subject to normal, *DAF, or both type fire? If
both, a hit from a normal battery should destroy the shuttle. If only form
*DAF fire perhaps it should take 2 hits to destroy and the first hit would
kill 1d6 marines.
