Subject: Article on Computing in Space
There's an article that describes some of the problems to be faced using computers in space at: http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2002/08/24/1030052995897.html Bear in mind this is for a LEO Sat, it doesn't have to travel through the Van Allen belts or worse still, near the radioactive hellhole of Jupiter. A lot of weapons effects can't compare to the threat already posed by the natural environment. If you have a spacecraft capable of safely conveying fragile humans around unshielded fusion reactors AKA stars, then they're already pretty well
