I use to use Pistol Cases, until coming home from a con, 90-92 era,
I got stopped for possible drunk driving at oh 2am Mon AM (or what do U call
it
when U been up 48+ hours surviving on soda and junk food basicly). And
had them in the back seat, was quite intersting when the State Trooper caught
sight of them in back seat. He asked me if I had any weapons, I said no.
repeated? over again, I still said No. Got asked to leave the vehicle and was
put in his, while he called for backup. Got a nap before the next cops
arrived. then we all openedthe cases together, me opening covered by 2
Shotguns.

Now I don't use weapons cases at all.

I got a large tupperware container and some 2" foam. Cut holes for my FT ship
bases and set 'em in, placing another piece of foam on top to hold them, then
all my dice, books, etc. go on top of the 2nd layer of foam. This method
really only works well with flat ships such as ESU. I've got a fried who got a
couple of pistol cases and cut out holes for his ships; that works rather well
too.

'Tis stories like this that make me think, "gee, why don't we have
stickers for FT/DSII/SGII/GZG, anyway?" Aside from helping bring gun
cases a little away from looking like gun cases (a little, not a lot), it
would be helpful in identifying what is in which case. I've
got on the order of 8 of the 4-pistol gun cases and another 6
single-pistol gun cases and keep forgetting which one is holding
which ships/tanks/infantry figs. I do this with my rubbermade boxes
that contain my climbing, caving, and camping gear (stickers for
each activity) and it works pretty well. :-)

I guess I try spray-painting the cases, but that would mean I'd have
to employ my ever-so-artistic talent in trying to make a stencil or
pattern or something to spray on. :-/

I am beginning to lean away from the gun cases as well.
I have hear 3 different people tell me of how thier car/van was
broken into and the cases stolen by someone thinking they had guns in them. I
am thinking of marking the cases with white paint that reads "Does not contain
firearms" or "No Guns Enclosed". Not that it would help, but...

Both..)
3. Would they? You know, I can't see people stopping to read essays

4. Sarcasm: surely they'd steal them away, just to make sure...? 5. OK. So
they think they're stealing guns. Even if they now know they're not, they're
in the car now, aren't they going to steal the figs anyway? I mean anything
fragile enough to need a case is going to be worth something... 6. Even if
they're not... you're assuming sense. Friend of mine had his car broken into.
They ignore all the CB gear under the dash and they took a *packet of
cigarettes*. He grins and says "Irony is I finished that pack yesterday..."
