Since it's on AP:
I'm going to... somewhere in the Middle East sometime soon. I would be early
next month, but I volunteered to go early on a ship with our vehicles. I don't
know exactally when I'm disconnecting from the internet. Don will have contact
information as soon as I have it if anyone's interested.

Stay safe, bring a camera, take lots of pictures and notes. Did I say to stay
safe?

Good on ya, John. All the best, and remember "Don't forget to duck."
We'll keep the home fires burning (so to speak).
Regards, AEB, Canberra
Good luck, John. Remember to duck the Scuds.:)

Be safe out there John. We'll keep a spot at the (virtual) gaming table and a
couple of cold brewskis waiting for you!

John, IIRC last year you avoided GZG East Coast Con by going to NTC. This year
you're going to the Mideast. Any idea what you're going to be doing next year?

Good gosh, man, don't you think he's got enough on his mind without having
to plan that far in the future? ;->=
We can depend on him to come up with a new and even more unarguable excuse
next year. I agree, it would be nice to have forewarning of any of this
magnitude, though.
John, I haven't forgotten your question about my intra-system campaign I
started to set up a few years ago; I'm having trouble finding the hardcopy,
and I didn't realize I might be under the gun to get back to you. So you see,
you have yet another responsibility to keep your butt in one piece. Come back
safe.
I won't ask you to duck. It's not your style. Just stand behind/in hard
cover taller than yourself.

chemical attack.

That was NOT an image I wanted!
Quick, John, put your hands over your ears and go 'lah lah lah...'
All I ask is you be moderately sensible about it. 'You know, fly
casual...'

I'm still fairly certain you're NOT to make a target of yourself. The vehicle
alone 'represents a sizable investment...'
I just wish I could offer even that much to our friends in Oz.

PS John doesn't know WHERE he's going, so you really can't say
'Iraqis'...

At least the track he has now doesn't wave the Bridge around in the air 60'
above the vehicle saying "SHOOT ME HERE NOW!!! I'm deploying my bridge so
tanks can come eat you!" It still has a darn huge profile when traveling but
it's a fair improvement.

Well, Rumsfeld did say Turkey. We've already got forces in Kuwait. Sounds like
a nice two front attack to me.

Despite Ben Franklin's comment about never a good war ort a bad piece I will
define the "good war" as one where all the loved ones come home intact in
body, mind and spirit. Of course a "better" war is the one not fought but
(contrary to common wisdom it does not take two to fight even if it does take
two to tango) the diplomats seem to be losing that 'war' sadly.
Gracias,

It's always somewhere isn't it? Sigh.
Rules to remember
1) My radio is my best weapon. 2) The air to mud beagles are on my side...
usually. Make friends with the forward air guy. Borrow money, he'll have extra
incentive to keep those birds nearby. 3) Fire power keeps bad guys occupied.
Hopefully very occupied. 4) Ducking is not a sin or a character flaw but
should not be over indulged (or was that "...cannot be over indulged...") 5)
Come back. I might need an opponent some day. 6) All the usual Murphy's Rules
type things. 7) Maps are designed to compromise certain traits to better
reflect other traits. Not all of us believe "...We don't need no stinking
maps..."
You have my work e-mail address don't you? <grin>
8) Our prayers are with you. Yes, even the Evangelical Presbyterians. Heretics
but friendly heretics. <grin>
The first seven items above are just in jest. Number eight is serious.
I hope to hear about your return to the war GAME fold soon.
Gracias,
John,
as I mentioned on D Maddox's Yahoo group, you're also leaving just in time to
avoid my pesky questions about CEV's and Breaching Guns, some of which I have
asked Tomb to forward to you.

Absolutely.

Not *all* of us are friendly, some of us are just very patient.

Yes, ditto.
Yes on 8 even from us unrepentant Papists......)

Yeah, well, St.Barbara obviously listens to you (based on your Gulf experience
with things that go boom) so...

Hah! At last count, about 20 people have asked for a mailing address to send

Or conditions such as we've had down here, e.g.

Told you we'd keep the home fires burning :-)
What's the use of a firestorm if you can't use it to perpetrate an atrocious
pun?
Seriously, stay safe.
To all of those in dangerous areas - Keep Safe, be it potential combat
in the Middle East or firestorms in SE Australia.
