Subject: AOG B5 Miniatures- Are they to scale

Hello All

Speaking to people who have brought soem, and from what's been posted here, it
seems the AOG B5 minis aren't to scale with each other, or even within the
same
power, eg Hyperion about 3" long, Omega about 4-5", whereas based on the
show the Omago should be at least three times as long. Could anyone who knows
anythiong about this please comment. Thank you.

Peace and Love

I think it's safe to say that AOG didn't really think out their initial
miniature line.

The fighters are in scale to other fighters. The Hyperion might be in scale to
similar sized ships (Vorchan?). The Omega is likely in scale to similar sized
ships (G'Quon, Sharlin?).

Bigger ships are bigger (but not representatively bigger) than smaller ships.

For those who played B5Wars, you already new there was the potential for

problems if you used anything other than counters to play. Not only are

hexes too small for all but the smallest ships, but the rules can lead to
stacking and can reward it. Now the G'Quon and Omega don't even fit into a
hex, or even two hexes on some grids.

Bottom line: These are a notch better than Micro Machines as collectibles, but
are becoming even less suitable as playing pieces. They could never be
considered playing pieces for AOG's game.

Yeah, the re-sculpted models are really cool, but I think the same guy
who does scale for the Micromachines does the AOG stuff.;)

"Hmmm. Since fighters are small but look neat, let's make the models HUGE! And
since the cruisers are big already, let's leave 'em the same
size. Now, let's go make some AT-ATs as small as landspeeders!"

Oh, come now!

I think AOG knew very well what they were doing, but they also knew that the
majority of people buying the minis would be collectors and "players of other
spaceship combat games" (after all, how can anyone even try fit the actual
minis on the hex grid, especially when it uses TWO stands! All i can say is:
thank god for my Dremel Tool plus drill attachment). Besides, my "UNSC" Omega
Destroyer goes very well with my "UNSC" Star Tigers on the table.....ENEMIES

On AoG's web site they say they have 3 scales for their ships, fighter scale,
cruiser scale and cap ship scale. Personally I wish they would
bring out a fourth scale - small fighter scale. I prefer the Valiant-Ft
mini size fighters as a cluster of them look much better against the larger
ships than do the single larger fighters. I sent them mail about this and a
few other things but have not heard back from them.

Yes you can use them with B5 Wars, just do what we do and don't use hexes.

AOG is apparently coming out with an 'Epic' scale, if you will. These will
probably be in scale with the CMD ships, is my guess.
