Well I had to ask.. as I haven't received anything prior to this for 36 hours.

Thought maybe that orbital fleets might be blocking comms

Its fine to go back to the main list. Its working, although I suspect

Perhaps this would be a good time to request some help from the list. Quite a
few months ago Jon asked me to put together a forum for him. I've basically
finished the design, well I did that awhile ago, and before I install all the
detail features I want some group feedback.

If you have a few minutes please try it out and let me know what you think.

Looks good so far. I am looking forward to seeing where it goes.

Would this forum replace the lists?

Nice work.

Much faster than the Warflute Armati board, which is great for me as I'm on
dial-up.

As a BTW, I do find these sort of boards hard to keep track of, as you need to
actively go to them, rather than them deliver mail to you as it happens. But
maybe that's just me:)

No, it's not just you. I'm currently on at least 15 mailing lists -

20, I've lost count - with about half being active (usually including
GZG-L), and I don't have any trouble keeping up with them all.

I've noticed that I have trouble keeping track of more than two or maybe three
active forums at once, though, and even at the forums I remember to
visit, I hit one or two sub-forums per visit and mostly ignore the rest.

Mailing lists are simply far easier to keep track of than even the
best-designed webforums, IMO.

I have to agree with this entirely, and I find the general trend towards
webforums very frustrating.

I have to set my vote in for the email list.

The forum page you have Jaime is quite nice. But I find that it is far easier
for me to keep up with an email list than a forum browsing. As noted earlier,
I have to take an active action to go look at forums, browse all the topics,
see what I might or might not be interested in reading, then later remember
what I've read and responded to, etc. A mailing list I find to be far far
easier to manage.

Now, that said, if the GZG player resource pool were exceedingly massively
huge, and there were hundreds of msgs a day coming through, then I'd vote
forum (even though that would mean my participation would be cut drastically
due to the earlier-outlined reasons). But given the number of posts that
currently go through the email list, I think a forum is unwarrented for the
time being.

Greetings:

A forum might be a good place for pictures, rules drafts, or fairly permanent
things. But every group
that I've joined originally as e-mail that gets
swapped to forum is one that I eventually stop reading.

E-mail is a better approach for me. Easier to save
messages, for example.

Another mailing list that I belong to for the Command Decision miniatures game
has begun to transition to a forum. The main reason is that spammers have
discovered and penetrated
the e-mail list. The list owner did his best to keep the
spam out, but he eventually became overwhelmed. If spam is not a problem on
this list, I say we keep it. However, if the time and effort required to keep
the spam away is too much, then I say we switch to a forum.

Yep, I have to concur.

Web Forums usually lack threading so following a topic can be frustrating at
best.
