Well, this is an interesting turn of events. No more than a month after I meet
all the great people at the East Coast Convention do I discover that I may be
living on the East Coast by the time the next convention comes around!

Seems my dear wife (sorry, Mike Siefert, you can't have her!) has a job offer
near Washington D.C. and since a) it pays a heck of a lot more than what she
is making now and even a little bit more than what I am making (horrors!) and
b) I was looking to change jobs anyway and was in fact returning from an
interview when she got the news of her offer and c) we were also looking for a
new house...anyway, it makes a lot of sense that if we were going to leave St.
Louis now would be the time.

(For my feelings on St.Louis, note that I plan to run a game at next year's
East Coast Con called "Nuke St.Louis!". No offense to anyone who

Live WAY outside the city (and I do mean WAAAY out). Having lived there, you
will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy...you must be
cautious.

<grin> Went there to visit the University of Washington in St.Louis...
wasn't bad, and my... cousin-in-law, I guess, made for a pretty good
host, but I ended up going to CMU instead. So....

> So. . .my only real concern is finding a game store that stocks FT!

Hey, it's not *that* bad of a decision basis. And it was something I was
looking for when I moved up to north Jersey after getting my job here...
unfortunately, there's nothing *really* close (well, work is, which was also a
point since I don't like long regular drives) but there is a great store about
a half hour away. GW Chapter Approved, but also has a full suite of Warzone,
Clan Wars, and more, so I can't really complain. And the CA mark does mean
they have gaming tables, and the owner's very cool. And I'm helping him paint
the BFG minis tomorrow. <grin>

Then, get people started on BFG... and then switch 'em over to Full Thrust.
^_^ It's a plan, anyway....

Oh -- and there are several stores in/near D.C., the most notable being
the Game Parlor (IIRC) in Chantilly, though that may be a bit of a drive for
you. There are others near the city... one good one a bit south, but the name
escapes me.

Not a problem. I keep a full stock of GZG games and a good selection of minis.
I can come up with 8 to 12 people to play F.T., about half of that do Dirtside
and some of those Stargrunt. Call or e-mail me for directions. Thursdays
are a
good night to stop in and find a sci-fi crowd. Were open Tuesday through
Sundays 12 noon to 10 P.M. (but were often there much later Thursdays and
Fridays)

What fun is a vacation if you can't look for good game stores!?!

Both stores that I have been to have been mentioned, Little Wars in Fairfax
and the Game Parlor in Chantilly. Both stores have large tables suitable for
FT games.

When will you be in D.C.? I'll be traveling down to D.C. in June for my
niece's graduation from high school and would like to get together for some
miniatures gaming some evening.

Hi Nick! That's just great!

There is a game shop in College Park off of Rhode Island Ave. called Realms of
Fantasy which stocks FT supplies. The only problem for me is that they're only
open in the evenings when I'm usually already headed home.

Let me second that. I got my first masters at Gallaudet University, which is
on the northeast side of the District off of Florida Ave. Prior to
that time I had never even -known- anyone who had witnessed a crime.
During the two years that I was there: my car was stolen, there were three
gun battles outside my window, two murders within 1/4 mile, and I came
home from class early one day to find a guy -in- my apartment stealing
my computer system (I convinced him to just put it down and we'd go our
seperate ways, but often in DC they shoot you just to be safe - I was
lucky). All this while I was the single parent of a (then) 4-year-old
boy.

When I started at Univ. of Maryland (College Park, north of the Beltway), we
moved to Riverdale and that was better, but not a lot better. The further you
live outside the Beltway, the better things seem to be.

We now live in Annapolis on the Chesapeake and love it. Great schools,
great town, very safe, inexpensive - and 3 private beaches in the
community. The only bummer is the 35-40 min commute to College Park, but
it's worth it. If you don't want to live that far out, Laurel is very nice
(and outside the Beltway too). Email me direct if you want more advice on the
Maryland side of the District, I think there are several others on the list
who know more about the Virginia side.

So now we have to get the Baltimore guys down here and play some Full Thrust!
Maybe this time you and me can kick some FSE tail instead of vice versa, eh?

Yer comin' out this way, Nick? Cool! I don't know the stores in the DC
area very well, but Little Wars (run by Fabet, who was at GZG-ECC) is
down on the west side somewhere. There's another store up in the Rockville
area, Dream Wizards or something. They stock a variety of stuff, but I don't
remember details (was only there once last year and don't remember everything
they carried in there). I don't know any other stores down in
the DC area after that. Not much up here in B'more. :-/

Welcome to the East when you finally get here.:)

The Armory in Baltimore doesn't stock GZG stuff anymore? Prior to moving to
Florida, that's where I bought most of my FT ships.

Actually, the Armory (is there a "u" in there?) closed their retail store in
January. Does anyone know if they still let people in the warehouse on
Fridays?

Too true, too true. After all, I need her income to finance my gaming
habit. :-)

Especially while I find _my_ job in the area.

They still carry, but it's harder to obtain since they just closed
their walk-in retail store a couple months ago and are now exclusively
a distribution warehouse.

It's "Armour" if you're speaking the Queen's English (Canada, Australia, UK,
Rest of World) and "Armor" if you are speaking American:)

Unfortunatley Geohex is one company Armory-now Alliance orders very
little from. To get any kind of stock for my store I have to order directly
from K.R.
