              centre

A Japanese fighter aircraft on a training exercise has accidentally strafed a
medical rehabilitation centre, hitting a car and a garage.

              A spokesman for the Japanese air self-defence force said
the pilot had not intended to fire his guns at the centre near the Shinamatsu
training base, some 700km (450 miles) north of Tokyo.

              Police said no-one was hurt.
