I'm working from a partial copy of the list of members. There may be a few
days of tidying up. (Anyone who doesn't want to get this version of the list,
you can use the links in the headers to unsubscribe yourself, or you can write
to me and I'll do it.)

Thanks for doing this, Roger - what does everyone here think, is it
time to let the "old" list quietly expire and to make this one the new "main"
list? Roger, would you still be happy with doing that?

OK Roger, thanks again!

Now, another related question for everyone here, about the status of the GZG
list in general.....

I've always been quite careful NOT to make it appear as if this is an
"official" GZG mailing list - it has always been a fan-run,
fan-centred list of folk of whom I just happen to be a part. Now, I'd
like to put a subscribing link up on the new webstore - still making
clear that the list is a separate fan community and not "run" by (or
for) me and GZG - but of course if I do this, I think there may be
quite a large influx of new subscribers...... do those of you already here
actually want that, or are you happy with the current fairly small group of
active members with just the occasional one added now
and then via word-of-mouth?

Incidentally I'm STILL very unsure of whether or not to have a forum linked to
the website, but if I did decide to do that at some point I
would hope that such a forum could happily co-exist alongside the
mailing list, serving similar but distinct functions.

Please discuss, Gentlemen (and our few rare and prized Ladies)! ;-)

I agree, one new main list would be great.

I thought the last time Albert attacked, you guys nicked all his stuff
;)

Obviously, I'm still on the partial list, and I'm partial to remaining on the
list, though a digest version would be nice.

There isn't really, Brian - because the Berkeley-hosted "main" list
has been so unstable for a long while now, Roger BW has very kindly
been using his Firedrake server to host a back-up for the list, which
gets used when the main server is playing silly b*ggers again.

What we're talking about is just shifting all the list traffic to
Firedrake, and letting the Berkeley list expire in a semi-dignified
manner. To all intents and purposes it will be the same list, with the same
folks (provided they want to move with it) and the same
content - it will just WORK, hopefully! ;-)

G'day,

I don't think having a link on the site would be a bad thing, it might
be a good stimulus to get some new blood here - though it will mean
people will have to be tolerant of the odd topic that has been discussed
before.... though for some of us our memory is so shot we probably won't
notice that its a work over;)

In general, I think more exposure is good. I rarely comment here, but I read
it whenever, and some of the old posts sit very quietly in their own little
folder for whenever I might need a house rule, etc. If there is fresh blood
out there, let's get it into play...

I'd need to update my instructions on stargrunt.ca, but I'm willing to see
that happen.

I did a 'like on the facebook page, but I didn't see a place to post things...

Maybe we have a place to post alternative rules, etc...

On a side note related to the post title: Is Albert W Cho really out of the
office, or is he just on an intergalactic cruise? Will someone please find his
secretary so we can suss this out?
