A collection of pictures from Afghanistan:

Includes such 'exotic' troops as Swedes and Romanians.
Quite a bit of ideas for modelling/painting

Lots of good shots in general too. Thanks for letting us know about it.
They even had pics of PP'sCLI. There's an extant NAC unit if I ever saw one.

Very interesting gallery - thanks, Karl.
I've just set this one up as my desktop wallpaper:

Forget mocking the French for their shorts, what about the ability of
British troops (SAS especially) to look nearly as bandit-like as some of
the locals?:) Even the British Army regular guys 'go native' way more than
anyone else! (There's the one pic of a helicopter full of Regular Army
troopies, at least half of whom seem to be wearing burnooses...)
(Minor historical question: why isn't the Brit Army the "Royal Army" when the
UK's Navy, Artillery and even Air Force are all "Royal"?)

I'd expect that it probably helps out a bit when it comes to chatting with the
locals and blending in. Not that the locals can't tell who's
who. The SBS troop with Burnoose, WWII pattern T-handle Shovel and
Rifle is pretty interesting.

Because the Army was founded by a man who wasn't Royal. That'd be Oliver
Cromwell. (that's how I understand it)

Probably! Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry have come up before in
the context of 'what units exist in the NAC'!
(I like the new American NAC regt, the King's Own Memphis Rifles, myself...
dress uniform does NOT include blue suede shoes. They get stepped on, see.)
It's usually abbreviated just as PPCLI, btw. Neater that way.
Oh, and thanks for the info about why the UK Army isn't all Royal, everyone.
Most interesting.
