I am of the same oppinion as Tre.
If your crusers/destroyers are getting pounded by capitols then your
just
not moving fast enough.(more thrust-thats why its cheaper on small
ships!)

If you still want protection use rules for sand/chaf casting (like
mines) that produce areas that are hard to fire through. Will try to find the
rules I made up when I get home!
