I realize that this has been asked before but I never had the availability of
inexpensive modern military models like I do here in Korea. The only thing is
I cant really decide on what scale goes best with the 25mm SGII
figures that I have already. The 1/48 scale looks a bit big and the
1/72
looks a bit small. Not finding anything better I will go with the 1/72.
What do other people use asfar as vehicles and terrain scale for their SGII
games?
THanks
Not a direct answer to your request, I'd like to point out that Lindberg
did a box of four 1/64th WWII tanks. My feeling is that that is probably
as close as you could get to the right scale.
Now, if it were Evil Empire(tm), I'd suggest a kit 1/48th tall and
1/35th
wide. Go figure.
On the other hand, I've never seen 1/64th post WWII, and I assume that
the Lindberg kit(s) is out of production, and only found on dusty shelves of
certain, aged hobby stores. That's where I found mine. ;->=

As Doug mentioned, 25mm is about 1/64 scale. Some die cast companies
make cars in about that scale, but you are going to have trouble if you want
tanks in that scale. If it's historicals that you want to play, I'd suggest
dropping to
20mm/HO (which aren't quite 1/72, but close enough). You can always mail
order resin tanks and such if you want to play 25mm SF. The other option is to
do what I did with my 15mm scale figures. I took Rocco HO scale tanks, removed
the treads and turned them into hover tanks. You could get the same effect by
kitbashing 1/48 scale. Then the size won't be much of a problem.
For terrain, I use HO scale trees. They come in various sizes and look
reasonably good next to 25mm figures. Yes, this will mean that your figure
scale, ground scale, and tree scale will all be different, but it will look
fine on the wargame table.
